Festival “Pride of Bajo”

Penjaga Pulau Community supported a festival in Labuhan Bajo Village, Utan Sub District, Sumbawa District, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia held on 17 February 2018. The theme of the festival is “Pride of Bajo”. Through parade, drama, poetry workshop and several films made by Kabete Education Center, the young people of Labuhan Bajo have attracted the attention of many of the inhabitants. Main messages were on waste and marine conservation.

Coconut Shell as Coral Restoration Medium

On October 2017, we piloted coral restoration using coconut shell as the restoration media. Together with KABETE Education Center and Students of Fisheries Management, Samawa University, we planted the media near Bedil Island. Four months later, we came back to visit them. See the photos below taken on February 2018. They look strong and healthy. We will come back on June 2018. If they look promising by then, we will install more!
